Hello guys, Here I am sharing my views on five questions which are based on Mary Shelley is novel Frankenstein.
(1). Why victor was not able to accept his dream experiment and it's results?
Here Shelly Contrasts God's creation of Adam to victor's creation of the monster. Victor sees his creation as beutiful and yet repugnant, versus the creation story taken from the Bible in which God sees his creation of Adam as "good". Victor succeeds in bringing his creation an eight foot man, to life in November of his second year, excited and disgusted at 'the monster' he had created, he runs from the apartment. The monster now begins to take shape, and victor describes his creation in full detail as beautiful yet repulsive Yellow skin, lustrous black and flowing hair and teeth of pearly whiteness. Victor describes the monster's eyes considered the windows upon the soul, as water eyes that seemed almost the same colour as the dun white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips.
Repulsed by his work, victor flees. While wandering the streets the next day, he meets his childhood friend, Henry Clerval, and takes Henry back to his apartment, fearful of Henry's reactions if he sees the monster. Victor also sees his creation was not good looking. Victor thought about society side and not accepted his own creature after monster losing his innocence results in a death of victor family and friends. this are only reason victor was not able to accept his dream experience and its results.
(2). What made Creature a monster? ( Experience of society- rejection- creator's ignorance and hatred).
The monster is victor Frankenstein's creation, assembled from old body parts and stronge chemicals, animated by a mysterious spark. He enters life eight feet tall and enormously strong but with the mind of a newborn. Abandoned by his creator and confused, he tries to integrate himself into society, but society are not accepted his inner beauty and judging by in outer look. Society was rejected, ignore and hatred the creature. Creature looking in the mirror, he realizes his physical grotesqueness, an aspect of his persona that blinds socity to his initially gentle, kind nature. Seeking revenge on his creator, he kills victor younger brother. After victor destroys his work on the female monster meant to ease the monster solitude, the monster murders victor's best friend and then his new wife.
While victor feel unmitigated hatred for his creation, the monster shows that he is not a purely evil being. The monster's his remarkable sensitivity and benevolence.
(3). Why society has rejected victor's idea of experiment and then the result of his experiment? (His creation and idea of creation).
The monster created by victor Frankenstein is rejected by human society because of his appearance
. Mary Shelly explores the feeling of creature totally ignored and abused by the society. victor does not think about possible results of his experiments. He does not think what will happen when he finally succeeds and created a living creature. He is severely punished by his attitude when the creature created by his turns to monster. Society and social norms finally result in feeling of loneliness and estrangement . The monster complains that his maker and mankind are moving his nature from goodness and benevolence to wrath and violence.
(4). Can appearance overpower reality?( In reality creation was innocent like child- got converted into monster by actions and given thought process).
The novel Frankenstein outline the loss of innocence best through two characters, Frankenstein band his monster. Innocent character would have lived and the monster would have never wanted revenge if victor had not rejected him. When victor lost his innocence also resulted in the creation of a monster, whom took his anger out on the people victor loved. Victor without anyone to guide him and help him learn from mare than just literature, the monster was forced to learn the hard way. The downfall of the monster started when he fell in love with the De Lacey family. Loving this family, through it taught him something valuable, caused him to turn into an actual monster. Confronting them and being rejected affected the monster worse than a normal man, as he now completely understood what his place in society was unfortunately, this made the monster result to revenge and decide to use his corruption to hurt his creator. victor losing his innocence results in a monster, monster losing his innocence resulted in a death of victor family and friends.
(5). Who is suffering from Deformity in the novel? Which kind of deformity and disability is there? Who decides what deformity is?(being judgemental appearance matters).
Monster is suffering from Deformity in the novel. Monster asked victor: "why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust? God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring after his own image. But my form is a filthy type of years, more horrid from its very resemblance." Thise deformed creature is not born but made, and the creature's deformity is a problem of comparision: resemblance to his creator's humanity only increases the ugliness of his appearance.
This novel insistence on the monster's speech this refuses the fantasy of the spectators gaze as safely one sided, suggesting briefly that looking outer beauty not a inner beauty.
Thank you !!!
